Latur district has Police Headquarter at Latur. Head Quarter maintains reserve police force which will be used for guard duty, escort duty and many other regular duties. Also arrange basic police training sessions. In the situation of law & order police head quarter provide Reserve Police force to handle the situation. Reserve police inspector of Head quarter control the discipline, training, canteen, store, armor room, building maintenance, quarter guard, magazine which are under observation of Home Deputy Superintendent of Police and Superintendent of Police.

The Police Control Room controls the activities of police department in all over district. Control Room connects all police stations in district. Control room is in contact with all police station in district all time. It also plays role of communicator between field staff and controlling authorities at all levels. Control Room ensure proper execution of law and order. At times during critical situations and in the absence of Senior Officers/Unit Commander, the Control Room Officer has to take decisions, give directions to the officers present on the spot, if required dispatch forces to assist the police officers on the spot and to promptly communicate important events to the Unit Commander, other senior officers and DG Control Room.

When there is problem of Law & Order or any accidental conditions or territory movements, citizens also inform control room on emergency dial 100 number. On that information control room take necessary action and if require then send force as immediate as possible to maintain law and order. For that purpose PCR mobile vans are patrolling within city all time.

B.D.D.S. unit is working in Latur District Police Force. It makes anti sabotage checking during the VVIP/VIP visits, valuable/ Public or Crowded places. B.D.D.S. is mainly used to prevent terrorist activities (to neutralise an I.E.D.’s) also it takes proper action against any suspicious bags/ material.

This is a specially created cell especially to look into the grievances of women and cases of domestic violence. Women social workers and members of Non Governmental Organization have been taken on the panel. They hear the cases of victims and other family members and try to bring about settlement between them by counseling. The cases not settled are sent to Police Station for legal action.

Anti Terrorism Cell (ATC) is a special unit of police department which control terrorist activities. Their main task is to find if any terrorist activity seen in district, if found then take necessary action against them. They find out fake owner of SIM by checking SDR and fake renter who make doubtful activity. They also publish photos of terrorist. They create awareness in public about terrorist activities.

As per guidelines and order of Director General of Police, Crime and Criminal Tracking and System is implemented in Latur District. Economic Offences Wings which investigate complicated white collar crime viz; general, cheating, frauds in banking and medical fields, job racketing, shares and bogus stamp cases. Responsible for organizing various training programs and new strategies for enhancing the efficiency of the economic offence wing.

This branch conducts raids against rackets of prostitution and human trade. Also maintains data of missing children.

Working of District Special Branch

District Special Branch is very important in the structure of district Police organization. This Branch plans and designs the structure arrangements during Festivals, Elections, Examinations, VIP, and VVIP Visits in the district and co-ordinate with Police Stations.

This branch collects confidential information in advance regarding activities of various organizations, Movements & activities of various political parties. This information is then analyzed and the input is send to the State Intelligence Department (SID) as well as to the police stations concerned to take necessary actions.

This branch also deals with Character verification, Passport verification, Cases of noise pollution and recommendation for various licenses.

The work of traffic branch is to regulate traffic in the city and to prevent accidents. In festival occasion traffic police regulate traffic. They create proper planning of entry and exit road in special festival and ceremony. In movement of VIP the traffic police clear the road and give to to convoy.

This Branch has major importance in police department. This Branch is involved in major criminal probes and very sensitive crime detection. Modus Operandi Bureau (MOB)

This branch collects information of Modus Operandi of Crime and maintains the records like Known Criminal Register, History Sheet Register, Convicted Persons Registered and MCR. With this information it helps the investigation officers by giving suggestion with respect to the offenders likely to be involved in offences.

Special Exicutive Officer

By government order no.spl.2/exm.0791/nax/2783 date:-10.02.1993. Police inspector local crime branch is empowered as special executive magistrate for chapter cases under crpc107,109,110. Court of special executive magistrate is situated at local crime branch office Latur.

Foreigners Registration Office is the primary agency to regulate the registration, movement, stay, departure and also for recommending the extention of stay in india.

FRO Latur office deals in Registration, Extensions, Return visas, and processing of exit permission.

‘C’ Form For Foreign National Staying on Rent/Lease/Paying Guest:
The Foreigners (Report to Police) order 1971 made by the Central Government in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Foreigners Act, 1946. As per this order every householder of other persons should report to the FRO Latur Office about the arrival or presence of his household or in any premises occupied by him or under his control of any foreigner. Any person contravening this order shall be punishable under Section 188 of I.P.C. The keeper of the hotel shall, as soon as it may be, but not more than 24 hours after the arrival of any foreigner, transmit a copy of duly completed Form C to the FRO Latur Office.
